The RCMP will investigate allegations that Brandon police officers drove a man out to the country and made him walk back to the city in freezing temperatures over the weekend.
The allegations began circulating on social media, saying that the Aboriginal man was driven north of the city and forced to walk back on Saturday.
“The Brandon Police Service takes this allegation very seriously and has requested that the Manitoba Department of Justice have an independent investigation conducted by another agency,” police said in a release on Monday.
The investigation into the so-called “starlight tour” incident is ongoing.
