Ashern Snowmobiler Killed After Collision with Tree

RCMP Crest LogoA 33-year-old man from Ashern, Manitoba was killed early Thursday after his snowmobile hit a tree.

RCMP say the crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. in the RM of Grahamdale. The snowmobiler was travelling alongside a 38-year-old man from Moosehorn, who also collided with the trees.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The second man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The snowmobiles were travelling on a maintained trail at the time when they both lost control while negotiating a turn. Both riders were wearing helmets and alcohol is not considered a factor.

The name of the deceased isn’t being released.
