The cliché of “big weekend” to describe a series of Manitoba Bisons games gets thrown around a lot, but on Friday and Saturday, it really will be crucial for the men’s hockey team to deliver a pair of wins.
The No. 8-ranked University of Manitoba squad hosts the Calgary Dinos (13-7-0) and continue their stride to gain one of top two spots in Canada West standings.
The Bisons opened 2013 with a road split at #3 Saskatchewan and the next week with a home sweep of Mount Royal. Since the last conference bye at start of November, the Bisons have won eight games and lost twice in extra time during the last 12 conference regular season games.
Manitoba sits third in Canada West with 27 points, while Calgary is one spot behind with 26.
Puck drop on both nights is 7 p.m. at Max Bell Arena.
