Tim HortonsWith the Canadian penny on its way out of circulation beginning next month, Tim Hortons is hoping customers donate theirs to a meaningful cause.

The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation collects almost $1 million annually to fund its many programs through the donation of pennies. The coffee chain is asking customers to kindly donate their pennies to help send disadvantaged children to camp.

Donations can be made at coin boxes inside the restaurants and at drive-thrus.

More than 15,000 children were sent to camp through the program in 2012.
