A 42-year-old Saskatoon man was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a semi-trailer truck on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Richer, Manitoba.
RCMP say witness accounts from the scene determined the man was walking on the highway just before 6 a.m. when he attempted to flag the semi down. The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The 66-year-old man driving the semi wasn’t injured.
A stolen 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck from the area was found at the scene stuck in the ditch. Police believe the two incidents to be related.
The eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway were closed for several hours while police investigated.
No charges are being considered.
