RCMP Crest LogoA 51-year-old man was killed Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on St. Mary’s Road.

RCMP say the man and a 23-year-old man were attempting to pull a pickup truck of the ditch that had gone off the roadway earlier. While working to remove the vehicle, both men were hit by a southbound 2002 Oldsmobile Alero.

The crash happened about 2.5 kilometres south of the Red River Floodway at around 11 p.m.

The pair were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where the 51-year-old later died. Both individuals were from the RM of Ritchot.

Two men in the Oldsmobile, aged 18 and 19, were not injured.

Police say alcohol isn’t considered a factor, but road conditions were icy and snow-covered at the time.

No names have been released.
