The Winnipeg Convention Centre’s $180 million expansion and renovation will see an opportunity for a corporation to secure naming rights of the new facility.
Construction already underway will nearly double the size of the downtown meeting space, creating 3,500 new jobs as part of the 340,000-square-foot addition.
Through Thompson Sports and Entertainment, the Winnipeg Convention Centre is searching for a corporate partner to have their brand on the building.
“This is a unique marketing and branding opportunity,” said Jeff Thompson, president and CEO of the Winnipeg-based firm leading the search. “Being a part of this exciting endeavour will put a company’s name in front of over 664,000 people who will visit the facility or take in one of its almost 750 events every year which include consumer and trade shows, conventions, corporate events and national celebrations such as the Juno’s, Grey Cup and Tim Hortons Brier.”
Thompson said his company would be approaching local, national and international companies and philanthropists to find the right one committed to building a strong business partnership.
