A Winnipeg company has started to sell a new oral care product for pets, specialized to remove biofilms.
Kane Biotech Inc. commercially launched StrixNB on Friday, which it says is a safe and effective drinking water additive scientifically formulated to help maintain and promote good dental and oral hygiene in pets. StrixNB is being sold strictly sold through veterinarian clinics across Manitoba.
The biotechnology company is the first in the country to offer the product to pet owners to improve their furry friends’ oral health. StrixNB’s main focus is to break through dental biofilm, which is highly structured, matrix-embedded microbial population — making bacteria accessible for eradication by a microbial agent.
The product was designed with dogs in mind to ensure dental disease doesn’t lead to other serious ailments, such as bacteria travelling into their bloodstream affecting the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and nervous system.
