A first of its kind charity concert will support the Children’s Wish Foundation on Sunday.

Urban Rhapsody is a student project-turned-fundraiser put on by Red River College students. The West End Cultural Centre will be the scene of the event, as local hip-hop vocalists, dancers and DJs take the stage, including Flo, Tiffany Ponce, The Happy Unfortunate, Jon-C and Charlie Fettah, and several dance groups.

“Urban Rhapsody encourages local artists to purpose their talents for a good cause, and aims to inspire Winnipeg youth to follow their lead,” said organizer Jackie Doming, a student in Creative Communications at RRC.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Briana, a four-year-old girl with a wish of one day visiting Disney World. The fundraiser is hoping to bring in $10,000.

Tickets for concert are $25 at the door, or $20 in advance from Urban Bakery (398 Portage Avenue), WECC (586 Ellice Avenue), The Mercantile (160 Princess Street), or at tohclothing.com.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with the show getting underway at 7 p.m.
