Winnipeg HarvestA south Winnipeg restaurant is giving back by replenishing the shelves of Winnipeg Harvest while celebrating the Vietnamese New Year.

Saigon Jon’s Vietnamese Kitchen is offering its customers a 50% discount on any entrée on Saturday, February 9 if they bring two non-perishable items for the local food bank.

“Vietnamese New Year is like Christmas, birthdays, and Thanksgiving all rolled into one,” said Johnny Kien, the restaurant’s president. “It is a time of new beginnings, hope, and giving. I really felt compelled to use our restaurant as a vehicle to help others.”

“Vietnamese New Year for Hope” will collect food between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. at 2696 Pembina Highway and donate 100% of the non-perishables to Winnipeg Harvest.
