A water main break late Thursday morning caused traffic headaches for motorists in the Polo Park area.
Shortly before 11 a.m., Winnipeg police advised the public to avoid southbound Route 90 at Ness Avenue after water began flooding the Route 90 underpass. A water main near Fox & Hounds Tavern on Portage Avenue broke, sending water gushing down the westbound Portage Avenue off-ramp and to the busy street below.
City sanding crews were later seen in the area after the water had subsided.
The tavern, located at 1719 Portage Avenue, hopes to reopen by Friday. Route 90 remains closed in the southbound direction just past Ness as of 1 p.m.
UPDATE at 2:30 p.m. — All streets have since reopened.
