The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed left-handed pitcher Pete Gehle from the Sioux Falls Pheasants in exchange for future considerations.
The 25-year-old Arizona native made 18 starts for the Pheasants last season, going 6-10 with a 5.50 ERA, as he threw 104.2 innings.
“He pitched well against us in the games we saw him last year,” said manager Rick Forney. “He’s still a young guy and was able to log 100 innings in this league. That’s important when you’re putting together a rotation for the season. We have some big expectations for him. We want him to come in and compete for a spot in the backend of our rotation.”
The Goldeyes now have seven players signed for the upcoming season, including five pitchers and two position players.
