Winnipeg Mardi Gras is February 15-16 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. (HANDOUT)
As the city prepares to see a return of minus double-digit temperatures over the next few days, the heat will be turned up inside the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
Winnipeg Mardi Gras returns for another year this Friday and Saturday. The mid-winter party features the sights and sounds of being in New Orleans without leaving the country. Authentic southern food will be served, such as freshly shucked oysters, peel-and-eat shrimp, and melt-in-your-mouth alligator fritters.
Entertainment this time around will include C.J. Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band, aerial acrobatics, stilt walkers, showgirls, drag queens, hula hoopers, strolling Dixieland Band, Silver Elvis, and more.
The party runs nightly from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $16 at Ticketmaster.
A portion of tickets sales will benefit JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
