The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have snapped up defensive tackle Bryant Turner on the same day he was to become a free agent.
“I’m really excited to get this deal done prior to free agency and stay with the organization that gave me an opportunity,” the CFL all-star said in a release. “I really feel that we are on the road to great things in Winnipeg and I cannot wait to play in the new Investors Group Field, in front of the best fans in the CFL.”
Coming off his second season in the CFL, Turner recorded three sacks in his first game of the 2012 campaign and followed that up with a two-sack performance in week two. He finished the regular season with 20 defensive tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 14 starts, including one at defensive end.
The Bombers also announced the re-signing of slotback Clarence Denmark and the signing of offensive lineman Mark Dewit.
