The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed infielder/outfielder Leonard Davis for the 2013 season.
The 29-year-old returns to baseball after sitting out the last season for personal reasons. In 2011, Davis split the season between the New Jersey Jackals of the CanAm League and Double-AA Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League in the Washington Nationals system. He hit .317 with nine home runs and 36 RBI in 52 games with the Jackals and .229 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 36 games with the Senators.
“He’s not too far removed from some pretty big years where he was producing a lot of doubles and a lot of home runs. We’re hoping he can come in and drive some big important runs in for us,” manager Rick Forney said in a release.
Davis was an eighth round pick of the Montreal Expos in the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft.
