Former Winnipeg Cop’s Death Not Suspicious

February 20, 2013 1:16 PM | News

RCMP Crest LogoThe death of a former Winnipeg police officer serving time behind bars has been attributed to natural causes.

Richard Norman Dow, 58, was found unconscious on Tuesday morning at Headingley Correctional Institute, where he was serving a 16-month sentence for 11 counts of sexual assault and one count of assault. Dow pleaded guilty in September 2012 in a Winnipeg courtroom to the offences — said to have taken place when he ran a part-time modelling agency.

Resuscitation efforts on Dow’s body were unsuccessful. An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday, which ruled out foul play.
