A red double-decker bus will be a new addition to Assiniboine Park this summer.

Called the Domo Double Decker, the 1967 Routemaster will provide free transportation for visitors in the spring and summer months on a route throughout the park. The bus will make stops at the Conservatory, Pavilion, Qualico Family Centre and new zoo entrance at 2595 Roblin Boulevard.

“We love the idea of the bus being used in Assiniboine Park and are absolutely delighted that it will be such a vibrant part of the community,” said retired senator Douglas Everett, who donated the bus after purchasing it in London in 2005. “I hope that it will provide many happy memories for Park visitors for years to come.”

The bus was shipped overseas and has been sitting on the family’s farm ever since they were phased out of service.

The complete route and full hours of operation will be announced at a later date.
