A domestic incident, which had RCMP stationed outside of a residence in Rapid City for several hours, has ended peacefully.
Officers were alerted to a domestic dispute at about 10 p.m. Thursday in the southwestern Manitoba town, where they say a woman inside the home was assaulted. The victim later received medical attention at Minnedosa Hospital and was released.
As a distraught man remained at the scene, police learned of the potential of firearms in the home and closed a nearby school and evacuated residents as a precaution.
A 34-year-old Rapid City man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on Friday without incident. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
RCMP are continuing to investigate any firearms-related offences.
