3D Light Sculpture to Glisten on Market Avenue

March 6, 2013 10:55 AM | Entertainment

A new 3D light sculpture called “Listening Lights” will be turned on tonight in Winnipeg’s Cultural District.

Part of a $2.5 million city-funded streetscaping renewal project along Market Avenue, the lights glisten to the tune of the sound of someone whistling.

The artwork involves 68 LED lights and was created by Montreal-based Moment Factory. The lights create a digital Aurora Borealis effect similar to the Northern Lights, which dance as the sound near them grows greater.

Other streetscaping features that will be installed this spring include benches, bike racks, planters and waste receptacles.
