To celebrate Women of Aviation Day, the St. Andrews Airport is giving women and girls free rides in fixed wing aircraft and helicopters today.

More than 600 people are signed up to take part in Women Fly from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Barring any emergency calls, the STARS air ambulance and crew, along with the Winnipeg Police Service helicopter will also be on hand.

Paulette Klassen, a local pilot and graduate of Harv’s Air, will speak at the event, providing information to women on careers in aviation.

Men can also attend and try a flight simulator.

More information is available online.
