‘Brush Up’ Program Seeking Applicants, Painters

March 16, 2013 8:55 AM | News

Take Pride WinnipegApplications are now being accepted for disadvantaged homeowners in need of having their house painted.

The 2013 Brush Up Winnipeg program being put on by Take Pride Winnipeg! will round up volunteer painters for projects June 22 to September 7.

The annual event beautifies neighbourhoods by painting houses where the owner faces financial or physical restraints to do the work themselves. In order to be eligible to apply, you must be 65 years of age or older or have a permanent disability and own and reside in the home that needs painting.

“Since the program’s inception in 2006, 50 homes have been painted. This year’s goal is to paint 10 more homes,” said Tom Ethans, executive director of Take Pride Winnipeg!. “We have found that when we paint one home on a street, it inspires other homeowners to improve their curb appeal as well.”

Applications are being accepted until April 5, 2013. Visit TakePride.mb.ca for full details.
