Winnipeg Folk Festival Unwraps 2013 Lineup

Winnipeg Folk Festival LogoThe Winnipeg Folk Festival took the veil off its 2013 lineup early Saturday, revealing the talent booked to play at the 40th edition of this year’s festival.

The festival begins Wednesday, July 10 and runs through Sunday, July 14 at Birds Hill Park, bringing together a wide range of diverse musical stylings.

Performers include Canada’s City and Colour, Grammy-nominated North Carolina band The Avett Brothers and Winnipeg’s own bluegrass/folk globetrotters Oh My Darling.

Ontario singer-songwriter and Festival alumnus Serena Ryder is also scheduled, along with The Decemberists’ frontman and songwriter Colin Meloy, Indigo Girls, who return to the Festival after a six-year hiatus, and more.

Also returning are some of the first ever performers at Folk Fest in 1974, including Stringband, Leon Redbone, Bob King, Sylvia Tyson and Ken Whiteley.

Early bird tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. this morning through the Winnipeg Folk Festival music store, online, or through Ticketmaster. Discount pricing is in effect until April 30.
