The former chief administrative officer for the Town of Churchill, Manitoba has been arrested after the local government was defrauded of more than $140,000.
RCMP began their investigation last November into the financial discrepancies. Police say between August and September 2012, the town was the victim of two bogus invoices.
Albert William Meijering, 44, was arrested on Tuesday and faces multiple fraud charges, including one count of breach of trust. The RM of Springfield man was released on a promise to appear in Churchill court on August 13.
