The Manitoba Bisons football team will play their first home game at the new Investors Group Field on Friday, August 30.
Usually playing in the afternoon, the Bisons will host the Alberta Golden Bears at night with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
“I cannot wait to begin a brand new tradition at the Investors Group Field this season,” said Bisons head coach Brian Dobie on Wednesday. “This will be an very important milestone in the history of the Bison Football program and we want to start with a conference win against Alberta in the first CIS game to be played in the new stadium.”
The full 2013 Bison football and Canada West football schedule will be officially released later this spring.
The Bisons also announced on Wednesday that the women’s hockey team has recruited five players for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
Rachel Dyck, Jenna Thompson, Jessica Dyck, Charity Price, and Alana Serhan sign on with the Bisons under the leadership of head coach Jon Rempel. The recruits come in the form of a goaltender, two defenceman and two forwards, respectively.
