A baboon had its handlers scrambling on Tuesday at MTS Centre when it escaped from its cage.
The Super Spring Break Circus held a media call to show off some of its animals prior to their two-day showing in Winnipeg.
When the animals were being taken from their cages for a planned photo-op, the female baboon hightailed it away and starting to climb railings and seats in the lower bowl of the arena. It took about 20 minutes to round her up.
Despite opposition from the Winnipeg Humane Society, as well as the Humane Education Network — who has planned multiple protests outside of the event — the show will go on.
The circus runs tonight and Wednesday. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
