Movie-goers will bid farewell to the IMAX Theatre on Sunday.

The Portage Place cinema announced in January it would be closing at the end of March due to no longer being viable. The theatre is currently run by the Forks North Portage Partnership, but in recent years hasn’t been able to secure big name first run movies and attract a larger enough crowd.

IMAX will close the same way it opened in 1987, with free screenings of the documentary “Heartland.” Screenings will run at 12 p.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

Free underground parking is available to theatre goers and parking stubs can be validated at the box office.
