A computer scam making the rounds that dupe unsuspecting residents out of their money has hit Selkirk.
RCMP are warning of the computer “cleaning” scam that asks individuals to run supposed virus cleaning software on their computer, only for the fraudster on the other end to gain access to their personal information and credit card details.
The latest incident happened April 1 when a victim was billed $180 after providing his credit card information for the cleaning.
Police remind the public to guard against providing their personal information and to use only reputable or trusted companies.
