The 21st Annual Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries MS Walk is fast approaching and organizers are calling on participants to register and help fundraise.

Set for Sunday, May 5 at the University of Manitoba’s Max Bell Centre, the 2 km and 5 km walk or run will tackle multiple sclerosis by fundraising for treatment and an eventual cure to assist the approximately 3,000 Manitobans living with the disease.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers alumnus Kelly Butler is the walk’s Community MS Ambassador.

“My mother had MS at a young age and it’s always been something that has been near and dear to my heart,” Butler said. “When I have the opportunity as I do now to give back, it’s just a match made in heaven for me to take part in this.”

The course will take walkers/runners through the U of M’s campus down King’s Drive and into nearby King’s Park, all the way back past Investors Group Field and returning to the Max Bell Centre. Registration is at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.

Last year’s walk raised nearly $400,000 with the help of more than 1,700 Winnipeggers.
