Registration for Manitoba’s fourth annual Open Farm Day is now open.
On September 15, members of the public will get the chance to tour farm properties across the province for a hands-on experience to help them gain a better understanding of the agriculture industry and of where their food comes from.
“By opening the farm gates to the public, we can showcase Manitoba agriculture and give farmers an opportunity to directly market their products,” said Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives Minister Ron Kostyshyn.
Fifty-one farm sites, which can include fruit and vegetable producers along with crop and livestock farms, participated in last year’s event, drawing more than 4,600 visitors.
The deadline to register as a host is April 30 by calling Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives at (204) 821-5322. Registration by the public isn’t required and admission to each farm site is free.
