The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed outfielder Ryan Scoma for the 2013 season.
The 25-year-old comes from the Rockland Boulders of the CanAm League in exchange for future considerations.
“He’s a good athletic outfielder,” manager Rick Forney said in a release. “He possesses a lot of tools that you don’t really see on an everyday basis in independent baseball.”
Scoma played in 99 games with Rockland last season, hitting .310 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI. The left-handed batter also stole 13 bases and had 39 extra-base hits.
American Association teams open training camp on May 4 and can have 28 players on their roster at that time under league rules.
