Steinbach Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest

RCMP Crest LogoA routine traffic stop in Steinbach resulted in an arrest over the weekend.

RCMP pulled over a vehicle on Saturday afternoon on Reimer Avenue for mechanical reasons. After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle for a short time, an adult male passenger fled on foot.

After a brief chase, the suspect was apprehended by police in a back lane near Friesen Avenue with the help of an off-duty corrections officer.

Kyle Barker, 20, of Steinbach is facing charges of obstruction, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police continue to investigate.
