Winnipeg Goldeyes LogoThe Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed rookie catcher Jordan Guida for the 2013 season.

The 24-year-old played with the Detroit Tigers last summer after a record-setting senior season in the NAIA with Tennessee Wesleyan College. In five games with the Tigers’ rookie team in the Gulf Coast League, he hit .467 and also appeared in one game at each of Single-A West Michigan of the Midwest League and Advanced-A Lakeland of the Florida State League.

“He’s a good young player and very athletic,” Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said. “Obviously you need two catchers and we were looking for a rookie to fill this spot. He can play in the outfield and he runs well. There’s more than one way we can use him.”
