Parcel 4 — the piece of land once touted as the site of Winnipeg’s future waterpark — will be the topic of discussion among the City of Winnipeg and officials with The Forks Renewal Corporation.

The two parties will collaborate on what to do with the nearly 12 acres of land currently used as a surface parking lot adjacent to the CN main line.

Planning will consider public green spaces and a mix of uses and other ideas brought forward through discussions and public input.

“We are very pleased to be working in partnership with the City of Winnipeg on this exciting initiative and look forward to hearing from the public throughout,” said Jim August, CEO of The Forks North Portage. “We think this is a great opportunity to pull together an integrated plan for one of the most important sites in the city.”

The city will contribute $75,000 towards the initiative, which will include citizen input and an urban design and development study over the next year.
