U of W, Transit Move Bus Loop to Sherbrook Street

University of WinnipegThe University of Winnipeg and Winnipeg Transit are moving a campus bus loop to Sherbrook Street for one year as part of a pilot project.

Located between Broadway Avenue and Portage Avenue, the temporary loop replaces the Spence Terminal, which ceased operations in the fall of 2012 to accomodate construction of UWinnipeg’s new UNITED Health & RecPlex.

Winnipeg Transit had been operating out of a temporary terminal in front of the Winnipeg Art Gallery until mid-March, but it didn’t meet Transit’s operational or passenger needs.

The new Sherbrook location provides transit service to the university’s west campus, and also adds additional service for residents, employees and visitors of the West Broadway neighbourhood.

Pending the assessment and outcome of the pilot project, Winnipeg Transit and the university may need to revisit two bus loop options that have been considered so far in a year’s time.
