Winnipeg’s less fortunate will be eating fresh after Subway has pledged to provide them with sandwiches every Tuesday.

Siloam Mission has partnered with local franchisees, who will provide 500 subs and 1,000 cookies each week to the homeless shelter. The food will also be shared with Siloam’s Madison Lodge.

“We’re very excited about this generous donation,” said Floyd Perras, executive director of Siloam Mission. “Donations are top of mind for a lot of people during the holiday season, but always seem to slow down during the spring and summer — even though the demand is still very high. We’re extremely grateful to launch this partnership since it will help secure our meal program for one meal per week, which is huge.”

The franchisees preparing the donations will operate around a rotating schedule and every Subway location in Winnipeg will be included indefinitely.
