Winnipeg HarvestWinnipeg Harvest honoured 88 recipients Saturday during the 12th annual Kids Who Care Awards.

The awards were given to individuals for their significant contributions to the local food bank, such as through volunteering, or collecting food and money for Harvest in lieu of receiving personal gifts at birthdays and other special occasions.

“We applaud the efforts of these extraordinary youth,” said executive director David Northcott. “Their acts of generosity and commitment to combating Hunger in Manitoba is greatly appreciated by the Harvest team and most importantly by those who received food assistance because of their contributions.”

The awards have been given out since 2001 after Ron and Eunice O’Donovan established Kids Who Care to recognize the remarkable ways that local youth were contributing to their community.
