The Society for Manitobans with Disabilities (SMD) Foundation has received a $50,000 grant in support of its wheelchair services program.

Funding from The Winnipeg Foundation will help support a wheelchair accessible elevator inside the new SMD Wheelchair Services facility.

“With the help from The Winnipeg Foundation, we are over halfway from reaching our goal of $1 million,” said Maria Marrone, COO of the SMD Foundation.

“We are fortunate to benefit from the philanthropy shown to us by The Winnipeg Foundation as we strive to remove barriers and improve accessibility throughout our community.”

SMD Wheelchair Services provides wheelchairs to more than 13,000 Manitobans with disabilities.
