A unique arts event to promote an upcoming fundraiser will support victims of domestic violence on Sunday.
The fifth annual Summer Shimmy Cabaret in support of Osborne House will feature six performances by belly dancers from different genres on June 9 at the Park Theatre.
To raise awareness for the fundraiser, free performances will be on display from 1-3 p.m. tomorrow at Kildonan Place Shopping Centre.
“Our art form is emerging in popularity and we look forward to being able to perform on Sunday and entertain shoppers who may never have seen belly dancing in person before,” said director/producer Monique Coté Thomas.
“Not only is it a very colourful and vibrant exhibition, but we are proud to be able to use our unique form of dance to create awareness and raise funds for the women’s shelter, Osborne House, which is such a crucial service for women and children in crisis.”
Tickets for the Summer Shimmy Cabaret will available at the preview event for $15.
