The city plans to close the Fort Garry Library on May 11 for renovations.
The library at 1360 Pembina Highway will reopen in the fall after upgrades are made to the building’s energy efficiency, layout, multi-purpose room, flooring, washrooms and other public spaces.
The newly renovated space will be bright and welcoming, accessible and better able to meet the needs of its users, according to a release.
During the closure, holds/requests for Fort Garry Library customers will be available for pick up at the Pembina Trail Library, 2724 Pembina Highway, or customers can select another branch of their choice.
The book return at Fort Garry Library will be available until May 20. After that date, materials may be returned to any other branch of the Winnipeg Public Library. Fort Garry Library programs already scheduled will be moved to Pembina Trail Library.
