Manitoba parents waiting for a child care space in the province may find an opening over the next year.
The Manitoba government is creating 1,000 new spaces in 26 new and expanded child care centres across the province.
Premier Greg Selinger and Family Services and Labour Minister Jennifer Howard made the announcement Wednesday at the Morrow Avenue Child Care Centre.
Officials also announced they are spending $5 million to build or expand child care centres this year.
“As a parent, it’s comforting to know that my children are being taken care of in a warm, nurturing environment by knowledgeable, caring staff,” said Nicole Dubois, board chair of the centre.
