Hundreds of Manitobans will be lacing up on Sunday for the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries MS Walk.

Walkers will begin at 10 a.m. at the Max Bell Centre at the University of Manitoba and stroll along two different routes. A 2 km and 5 km walk are planned and will include participants of all ages as they raise funds for the MS Society.

This year’s 2013 Community MS Ambassador is former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Kelly Butler, whose mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when he was 10-years-old. Butler now walks in her memory.

“When things like that happen, you don’t know why and it doesn’t make sense,” Butler said. “But, no matter how MS has affected you, you will never be alone. The MS Society is here to help and support you. We are going to find a cure and the pledges from the MS Walk will help fund the important research to make this dream a reality.”

Nearly $400,000 was raised last year with the help of about 2,000 participants.

Registration begins at 8 a.m.
