Mercedes-Benz Start Up

Mercedes-Benz Start Up is in Winnipeg June 18 (HANDOUT)

A country-wide search for emerging fashion designers will make a stop in Winnipeg on June 18.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up will see this year’s finalists have the opportunity to be mentored by successful fashion industry professionals as they prepare for the finale runway show at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto in October.

Aspiring designers are encouraged to apply for the chance to become the next awarded designer before the deadline on May 20.

There is so much raw talent in this country and we are eager to continue to meet fresh new faces and see their creations,” said Jarrad Clark, director of global production for IMG Fashion Events and Properties. “Offering mentorship and providing year-round support for designers is the key to keep moving fashion forward in Canada.”

Designers must have a registered Canadian business that has been operating for less than five years, and they need to have sold to market at minimum one commercial collection.
