One person was killed Friday night after a two-vehicle crash north of Brandon on Highway 10.
The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. between a pickup truck and semi-trailer truck eight kilometres north of the Wheat City.
RCMP say the driver of the southbound pickup truck was pronounced deceased as a result of the head-on collision, while the semi driver hauling fertilizer wasn’t injured.
A fire ignited following the collision and was extinguished. The fertilizer load remained intact and unaffected, but police closed the highway to traffic as a precaution due to the hazardous nature of the cargo.
The name of the deceased hasn’t been released.
UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as a 23-year-old Brandon man. His name will not be released.
