The city and province are jointly funding a new playground and recreation area at King Edward School in Point Douglas.
The $176,000 project will include open play and games areas, a picnic site, an amphitheatre, a hill with a slide and many smaller play structures like swings, spinners and a climbing net.
Children and Youth Opportunities Minister Kevin Chief and Point Douglas Councillor Mike Pagtakhan made the announcement on Friday.
Construction is set to begin in June and should be complete by the start of the 2013/14 school year.
