Winnipeg police have a man in custody after gunshots rang out in the Exchange District early Monday.
Police say the incident began when a blue Mercedes-Benz and silver Acura pulled up alongside each other at the corner of Hargrave Street at Notre Dame Avenue, at which time the male driver of Acura pointed a gun at the other driver.
The two cars drove away, but as the Acura turned eastbound onto McDermot Avenue, the driver heard bullets striking his vehicle. The driver of the Acura then accelerated past the Mercedes, ran a red light at Princess Street, striking a southbound vehicle in the process.
The southbound vehicle was being driven by a 23-year-old woman who was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The mayhem came to an end shortly before 12:30 a.m. following the crash, where the two men were arguing with each other. The Winnipeg police tactical support team took the driver of the Acura into custody.
A 22-year-old Winnipeg man faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, possession of marijuana and multiple firearms-related offences.
