Take Pride WinnipegA massive Recyclathon to collect old electronics, used oil and paint, as well as burnt-out light bulbs, will encourage Winnipeggers to drop off their unwanted items on Saturday.

Take Pride Winnipeg! and industry associations are collecting the items in front of the Canadian Tire at Garden City Shopping Centre (2305 McPhillips Street) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This is a special one-day, one-stop shop for many types of recycling,” said Tom Ethans, executive director at Take Pride Winnipeg! “Many people don’t realize just how many things they own that can be recycled. By keeping them out of landfills, we are helping to keep our environment cleaner and safer for future generations.”

Volunteers will be on-hand to assist with unloading materials from vehicles and getting them to the right truck for recycling. Each association will also have a booth where the public can get more information on recycling these products year-round.
