Winnipeg police are warning the public of a rash of recent garage break-ins in the east end of the city.
The break-ins occurred as a result of garage door openers being stolen from vehicles parked in the East District area, such as Transcona, East Kildonan, North Kildonan and Elmwood. About 12 incidents were reported over the weekend.
Police say vehicle owners shouldn’t leave their garage door openers in their cars while unattended, or hide the devices from prying eyes.
Further residential home security tips are available on the city’s website.
