The University of Winnipeg Wesmen wrestling team has recruited Rachel Alder and Tia MacDonald for the 2013-14 Canada West season.
Alder, 18, comes from Springs Christian Academy, while MacDonald, also 18, hails from Cameron Heights Collegiate.
“The recruitment of Rachel into our women’s program is one of great significance,” said head coach Adrian Bruce. “She will be the first ever graduate of our Jr. Wesmen program to progress into our Wesmen Varsity program.”
On MacDonald, Bruce said, “Being recruited out of one of the top developmental programs in the country she comes to us with strong technical skills and significant competitive experience which will serve as a strong foundation as she enters the sport of wrestling at the CIS level.”
