A group of soldiers from CFB Shilo east of Brandon are preparing for deployment to Afghanistan this weekend.

About 350 soldiers from several military units based at Shilo will be deploying as part of the final rotation of Canadian soldiers serving with Op Attention in Afghanistan. The mission is based in Kabul focused on training and mentoring the Afghan National Army.

A special event has been planned for Saturday afternoon at the base so families can see their loved ones off.
