New signage at The Forks will encourage visitors to “clear the air.”
As part of the destination’s Target Zero: Healthy Living initiative, Clean Air Zones will be designated to encourage people to move away from the high traffic doorways and offer a clean air environment for people to enjoy.
“This is the first of several initiatives we have planned for the coming months,” said Paul Jordan, chief operating officer.
Other planned initiatives include running and cycling maps of the site, opportunities for health and fitness groups to interact with one another in a central location at The Forks, additional bike racks and rental lockers for equipment. Longer term plans could include a bike lab, kayak lockers and additional amenities to serve all types of active groups.
The Clean Air Zones will initially be placed just in the area outside public entrances to The Forks Market and at four benches just overlooking the historic port.
